Our second day in Paradise

It's the day before race day and we are all excited...and nervous.  We are hoping for a cool day tomorrow, we can hope right?  Today we decided to make a trip to Costco to get some food for our week.  The Costco in Maui is very much like ours in the states except they have snorkel gear, swim suits (year round), flavored macadamia nuts, fresh tropical fruit, and Kona coffee!  After Costco, we ate lunch at Zippy's in Kihei.  This Zippy's has a fast food sided to their restaurant and a formal sit down side too.  We chose the formal side since we were not in a rush...we are on Hawaii time now!  After lunch we decided to drive the marathon route.  Who's idea was that?  Driving the course only made us realize that we were crazy and we only had Jennie to blame for talking us into signing up.  It took forever in a car going 45 miles per hour, which is about as fast as you can go in Maui.  Not only did it take forever, but we also got to see the mountain range that we were to run up. It was like a rolling hill.  Up and down, up and down, up and down....repeat 100 times!!!  Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating just a little, but the hill was a never ending rolling hill and all we could think about was the 88 degree weather that was forcasted for race day.  Once the hill ended we got to run through a dark tunnel, (insert sounds of screaming for shade here), then the flat portion of the race along the beautiful Honoapi'ilani highway coast line.  It was actually good that we drove the course because it made us all feel mentally prepared and know what to expect.  We had such a busy day (ha ha), that it was time to sit by the pool and catch some rays.  For dinner we ate at Antonio's Italian restaurant to load up on some pasta.  It was carbo loading night, spaghetti all around!  Back to the condo we went to get some much needed sleep for our big day tomorrow.
